Why are you involved in the Fragrance Foundation UK
As Chairman of the Board of the Fragrance Foundation UK, I am deeply committed to supporting and elevating the fragrance industry. I am truly passionate about the artistry, innovation, and emotional power of fragrance. The Foundation plays a vital role in celebrating excellence within the industry, educating both professionals and consumers, and driving forward sustainability and inclusivity. Being part of this community allows me to contribute to these important initiatives, stay connected with industry leaders, and help shape the future of fragrance. It’s an inspiring platform that not only fosters creativity but also deepens our collective appreciation for the craft and impact of fragrance, bringing it to a wider audience.
Why do you love fragrance
Fragrance is more than just scent—it’s an experience, a memory, and a form of self-expression. I love fragrance for its unique ability to evoke emotions, transport us to different moments in time, and create deep personal connections. It blends artistry and science, weaving together creativity, craftsmanship, and innovation. A single fragrance can tell a story, define a mood, or even become a signature of one’s identity. The power of scent is truly transformative—modern-day alchemy—which is what makes it so captivating to me.
What is your scent memory
My scent memory is a tapestry woven from the contrasts of the places that have shaped me.
Growing up in Barcelona, I was surrounded by the sunlit freshness of the Mediterranean—the salty sea breeze mingling with the zesty brightness of orange blossoms, the herbal crispness of rosemary and thyme, and the warmth of sun-soaked pine trees.
In India, scent took on a richer, more complex, and deeply intense character. The air was dense with the opulence of spices—cardamom, clove, and saffron—blended with the intoxicating sweetness of jasmine garlands and the sacred aroma of temple incense. It was a sensory experience that felt both grounding and transcendent.
Then, in the UK, fragrance became something more refined, shaped by the crisp elegance of misty mornings, the dewy freshness of rain-soaked earth, and the comforting aroma of damp woodlands. The scent of Earl Grey tea, leather-bound books, and the soft smokiness of an open fire in winter evoke a quiet sophistication that lingers in my memory.
Each place has left an indelible imprint on me, coming together to form the essence of my personal scent memory—a harmonious blend of Mediterranean freshness, Indian spice, white florals, and creamy woods, forever shaping the way I experience fragrance.
